Pro Pave Interlocking HGV Paving Grid - 600 x 400 x 80mm
Interlocking ground reinforcement grid in 100% recycled PVC for gravel or grass-filled HGV parking, coach bays, forklift yards and hardstandings. Each 600 x 400 x 80mm grid weighs 8kg, with 4.17 grids per m². Rated to 160 tonnes GVW, subject to sub-base and ground conditions.
Pro Pave is an 80mm deep interlocking ground reinforcement grid moulded in the UK from 100% recycled PVC. It is laid on a prepared base and filled with gravel or soil to form a permeable hardstanding for HGVs, coaches and forklifts. The grid is rated to 160 tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW) with a 40 tonne maximum axle load, subject to sub-base and ground conditions. In a spot load test to 40 tonnes, displacement was under 1mm on the correct supporting substrate.
- Size: 600 x 400 x 80mm, 8kg per grid
- Coverage: 4.17 grids per m², 33.36kg/m²
- Load rating: 160 tonnes GVW, 40 tonne maximum axle load
- Material: 100% recycled PVC from UK post-industrial sources, 100% recyclable
- Surface: anti-slip, with high UV resistance
- Infill: gravel or soil
How the interlock works
Neighbouring grids connect with a tongue and groove joint, so the surface stays tied together where HGVs turn, brake and reverse. Standard cellular paving grids are butt-jointed and only sit alongside each other, which leaves the infill to hold them in position. The interlock also makes laying quicker on large areas, because each grid locates against the next.
Infill and drainage
Gravel infill gives a permeable, load-bearing surface for parking and yard areas. Soil infill supports grass where a green finish is wanted, for example on overflow parking or verges. Water drains through the open grid, so the surface can be used within SuDS schemes, although the drainage design stays with the project designer. Sub-base depth and any geotextile layer below it, such as a woven geotextile membrane over soft formation, are also specified by the designer for the traffic and ground conditions.
Handling and reuse
At 8kg a grid, the units are laid by hand without plant and stack compactly for delivery and storage. They can be lifted and reused, which suits temporary compounds and storage yards as well as permanent hardstandings. For lighter traffic, gravel retention paviours are a lower-cost alternative to this 80mm grid.
Typical uses
HGV and coach parking, forklift loading areas in industrial yards, construction site compounds and storage areas, and highway verge reinforcement where vehicles regularly overrun the edge.

Is Pro Pave a ground protection mat?
No. Ground protection mats are laid on top of the existing surface. Pro Pave is a grid that is laid on a prepared sub-base and filled with gravel or soil, so it forms part of the finished hardstanding.
Does the 160 tonne rating apply on any ground?
No. The load figures depend on the sub-base and ground conditions. The 40 tonne spot load test recorded under 1mm displacement on the correct supporting substrate. Sub-base thickness and any geotextile layer should be set by the project designer for the traffic expected.
How many grids are needed for a given area?
Allow 4.17 grids per m². A 100m² hardstanding takes 417 grids, weighing approx. 3336kg in total.
Should I fill it with gravel or soil?
Gravel suits parking, turning areas and forklift routes that need a firm, free-draining surface. Soil allows grass to establish, which suits overflow parking and verges with lighter, intermittent use.
Can the grids be lifted and reused?
Yes. The grids can be lifted, stacked and relaid, which suits temporary compounds. Reuse depends on the condition of the units after lifting and on the requirements of the next site.
